GOLD BABY JAPANESE RACEHORSE

We recently caught North London band Gold Baby live at Manchester’s Eagle Inn and we were thrilled by the news that one of our favourite tracks from the show ‘Japanese Racehorse’ would be released in the near future. Well, that time is now and here you have a dreamy piece of grunge-pop to play through those earholes. You’ll hear lilting, melancholic verses with melodies that feel like their sloping off into a dreamstate, but yep keep afloat by the tight synchronisation of the band as a whole. At the forefront of this triad Siân Alex, who delivers her confessional lyrics with equal parts cautious vulnerability and gritty determination, matching with the alternating tempos of ‘Japanese Racehorse’. While this may be Gold Baby’s first appearance at TMR, we highly doubt it will be their last. - Hannah Thacker   [Photo credit: Sarah Currie]
